Dear Congressman Young:
I have an issue that is of vital interest to the United States.  The issue is one of fertility.  I have tried to reach you in the past, most recently last fall and have not yet heard back.  I understand that there was health legislation on the agenda at that time.  Although this is more important the legislation schedule was not flexible.  However the time has now come to attend to this important matter.

There is very strong evidence in the scientific literature that the fertility of animal, including people, is very sensitive to the kinship of the couple.  Inbreeding among humans is now very rare.  For practical purposes the nearer kin you marry the more children and grandchildren you can expect.  And neither we nor any other developed country has enough to survive.

This matter needs to be brought to the attention of the NIH and the CDC so they can put together a definitive proof of the fact as well as to devise a scheme that will permit our citizens to have children in adequate numbers.  For more details and references look at the March 25, 2010 entry on nobabies.net.  There is more evidence there and I also post letters like this to those I feel are professionally obligated to take action.

Sincerely,

M. Linton Herbert MD
